GRAVESEND
GRAVESEND DIRECTORIES HELD
There was much activity in Gravesend in the Victoria era, regarding the publication of directories, yet virtually none seem to have survived. The earliest one's were published by "Hall's" and are copies recorded in public repositories are recorded as exisiting from 1862 - 1889, but earlier copies must have been produced - at least back to 1852. There was also another company called "Webster's" which is known to have issued directoriesfrom 1890-1892. Again, these are only what is "known." There may have been other issues. The earliest recorded edition of the "Reporter" series is 1929 so that may be 1st issue?
1. Hall's Gravesend, Milton & Northfleet Directory & Advertiser 1865 (13th edition.) Assumed 1st published in 1852
2.. Kelly's Directory of Gravesend 1924 (17th edition.) - First edition was allegedly published in 1899 but early volumes are never seen. 1924-17 = 1907, which implies that the early volumes were not always published annually.
3. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1930 - Unrecorded.
4. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1932 - Unrecorded.
5. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1933 - Unrecorded.
6. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1934 - Unrecorded.
7. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1935 - Unrecorded.
8. Gravesend & Dartford Reporter Directory for 1937 - Unrecorded.
9. Kelly's Directory of Gravesend 1953 (Dubbed "1st" - yet it isn't. It is "1st thus" - since the relaunch.)
