FOLKESTONE DIRECTORIES HELD

The editions of the early Kelly's directories are not printed on the title page in the usual way.  The first issue to have this informaton printed is 1954. I have then been able to work backwards to attribute edition numbers between 1927-1954. Prior to 1927, the numbering of volumes is very ambiguous due to the apparent merger with Parson's, and it is difficult to know what is correct or otherwise.  The final Parson's directory was issued in 1926, and their first issue is allegedly 1909.  However, the issuing intervals may not be regular. More research needs to be done. Pike's directories were also published between 1889-1910, so as with many towns during this period, there must have been some intense competition. The first issue of Kelly's is recorded as being 1896, but how that relates to Parson's is unknown without actually seeing any of the early volumes.
